  • Heat oven to 350ºF.
  • Line 13x9-inch pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides. Spray with cooking spray. Beat butter and sugar with mixer until light and fluffy. Blend in eggs, flour and baking powder. Chop 5 oz. white chocolate; stir into batter with nuts. Spread onto bottom of prepared pan.
  • Bake 20 to 25 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
  • Microwave remaining white chocolate as directed on package; drizzle over dessert. Repeat with semi-sweet chocolate; let stand until firm. Use foil handles to lift dessert from pan before cutting into triangles to serve.

How to Chop Chocolate

To coarsely chop the chocolate, place the chocolate on a parchment paper-covered cutting board and chop to desired size, using a serrated knife. Lift the ends of the paper and pour the chocolate into a bowl or measuring cup to measure before use in your recipe.

Holiday cookie gifts become extra special when packaged in creative containers. Try clean wooden boxes, flower pots, pretty kitchen towels and new baking pans. Just line the containers with waxed paper, plastic wrap or foil. If using decorative tissue paper, wrap small stacks of cookies in plastic wrap before placing in container. Keep flavors intact by wrapping each type of cookie separately. Be sure to pack crisp cookies separately from moist cookies to prevent crisp cookies from becoming soft.


Substitute parchment paper for the foil.

I have already made this recipe 3 times this holiday season, and each time they disappear! I have made some changes though. The first time I made these, I did the chocolate drizzle, but I didn't cut the bars until after teh chocolates had cooled, and all the toppings fell off. The second two times I have made this, I just put all the white chocolate chips inside the cookie as well as a handful of semi-sweet choc chips. They aren't as pretty on top, but they taste just as good!!! (and mine weren't that pretty since all the drizzle had fallen off!) A keeper of a recipe, esp since it calls for only a couple of ingredients!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I used macadamia nuts instead. I used macadamia nuts instead. They turned out great but I had to cook mine for 40 minutes. I wish I had read the comments here first which I usually do to get tips. I was debateing to use the jelly roll pan. I will next time. Tip about the chocolate drizzle. Cut a very tiny hole if you want it to look like theirs and cut the bars right after so the chocolate won't crumble on you. Cut pushing large Chef's knife straight down don't drag it across. Clean your knife off in between cuts to keep them looking neat. Merry Christmas!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick to make and a favourite with the whole family. Quick to make and a favourite with the whole family. I baked it in the 13X9 pan but next time I would bake in a little larger pan- jelly roll pan . (such as in the illustration) as it took about 10 minutes longer to cook. Tasted very chewy with the chocolate and peanut flavours giving it an almost chocolate bar flavour. Baked first for a charity bake sale at work but needed to bake more after the family raided the cooling rack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I absolutely loved this recipe! I absolutely loved this recipe! It was easy and fool proof, although I would say they are more like a blondie then a bar. I brought the bars to a pot luck and received rave reviews from everyone who tried them, however, I slightly changed the recipe - I used milk chocolate instead of semi sweet chocolate to drizzle on top, and I finished it off with toffee bits which gave it an added crunch/surprise and looked great.

I made these as Christmas gifts along with other cookies and I got the most compliments on these. My husband and father love them. I've had people ask for the recipe. They do come out thicker than the picture-but that is not a problem-they taste wonderful. The drizzling is not hard. Melt the chocolate and put it in a small ziploc. Cut a small hole and squeeze away! These never last long around my house.

Because they came out thick, I cut mine into squares, it just didn't look as nice when I cut them into triangles. I did not have squares of white chocolate, instead I measured about 6 tablespoons of white chocolate chips and added it to the batter. They came out perfect. Really delicious! I will make these again.

I chose this one for its simplicity and presentation and was still suprised at how simple it really was. Mine turned out much thicker than in this photo, but I would have preferred them not to be (because then they would have turned out more like cookies and less like bars). Anyway, great taste and easy to decorate!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delicious! Delicious! I say this as my son is asking for his third piece! I love the ease and the taste. I am definitely adding this to the favorite stash. I used semi sweet chocolate in the recipe in stead of white chocolate. I think that next time I will do it with a walnut/ white chocolate combo and more white chocolate drizzled on top! It is truly addicting! YUM!
